Active Imaging Green’s Function

Abstract

No basic unifying theory exists for active imaging (radar, computed tomography, sonar, ultrasound). Beamforming and backprojection imaging modes have not previously been related to each other. However, the Green’s function developed here suggests a relationship. I will develop an elementary solution, or Green’s function, for a large class of active imaging methods. The Green’s function is an ellipsoid, and active imaging is described in terms of projections and backprojections over these ellipsoids.
