Summary
Cyclopiazonic acid is a potent inhibitor of cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca++ ATPase. It scarcely affects inotropism but significantly impairs lusitropism suggesting a greater role for cardiac sarcoplasmic reticulum in the control of cardiac relaxation than in the control of cardiac contraction.
