Dynamical Properties of Strongly Coupled Coulomb Systems

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Condensed Matter Theories ((COMT,volume 7))

Abstract

Coulomb systems (i.e. many particle systems where the interaction between the particles is predominantly due to Coulomb forces) are ubiquitous in nature, although the guises in which they appear can be quite different. Laboratory plasmas, space plasmas, stellar interiors, solid and liquid metals, electron-hole liquids, ionic crystals and liquids, electrolytes, two dimensional electron films, semiconductor hetero-structures are the most immmediate examples. In some of these systems particle correlations do not play a significant role; in others correlations are important or even crucial. These latter are the ones of interest for the present discussion.
