Abstract

A discussion of the low-energy multiphonon states in deformed nuclei is made based on theoretical results obtained by using the multiphonon method. Comparisons with experimental data show that collective two phonon states exist in deformed nuclei and that the multiphonon method can be used as a dynamical approach to octupole correlations.
