The Ecology of Blastomyces dermatitidis

  • Chapter
Blastomycosis

Part of the book series: Current Topics in Infectious Disease ((CTID))

Abstract

Understanding the epidemiology of blastomycosis depends on comprehension of the ecology of Blastomyces dermatitidis. This interrelationship, without a doubt, is real. There is a paucity of data on both the ecology and the epidemiology of this disease. The present assumptions of these concerns either are based on analogy with other systemic pathogenic fungal infections or are postulated from the meager data available.
