Abstract

This chapter deals with instruments that allow one to study solid materials of thermal conductivities 0.1–100 W m-1 K-1 at temperatures ranging from 150 to 700 K. Test specimens shaped as disks or short rods 15–20 mm in diameter and 1–40 mm in height are used for measurements performed under monotonic near-linear heating. The instruments are equipped with conventional devices for measuring temperature and heat flow, as well as heating and cooling systems.
