Abstract

It is often the case that, during the simulation, an error is difficult to locate because it happens to be in one instance of a component instantiated many times. In this case, the classical assert statement of VHDL’87

assert Condition report “Error in Entity E(A)”;

can identify which entity was bound on a given component, but nothing about the component instance itself.
