Abstract
Throughout the world, provision of postal services involves a complex mix of monopoly, competition and government control.tTypically, postal authorities have monopoly power over some of the services they provide (i.e., the “reserved services”). However, most postal authorities also compete with private firms in the provision of other services, such as courier and package deliveries.
