Abstract
The objective of this analysis is:
-
1.
Measure the specific gravity and pycnometer density of a powder sample preparatory to performing particle size analysis by sedimentometry.
-
2.
Measure the true particle density of fired ceramics. Comparison with the measurement of fired ceramic bulk density allows the computation of the true porosity of the ceramic which directly affects the mechanical and electrical strength of the product.
-
3.
Measure suspension (slip or slurry) density or specific gravity fundamental to process control in research or manufacturing.
