Abstract
Over a rather substantial period of time one may sometimes be privileged to accumulate a case history of peculiarities in any subject which only in retrospect begin to make any sense. This chapter is based upon almost 40 years experience attained primarily with the extrusion of electrical porcelain bodies with some additional experience with dinner ware, smokeless cigarette fuel, dental porcelain, catalytic honeycomb substrates, and a few others. It also includes the opportunity to be very actively involved in the design of extruders and extrusion equipment. This work was in many ways the precursor of much that has been developed regarding the necessary body properties for good extrusion.
