Abstract
The first chapter of my first book (1948) was about segregation analyses based entirely on the pioneer work of Haldane (1932, 1938). These two papers still constitute my basic knowledge of segregation analysis today, I am not ashamed to say. These two papers also got me thinking about the properties of the Mendelian segregation data which are essentially binomial in nature. A diagram illustrating the Mendelian segregation pattern for an autosomal locus with dominance appeared in the first chapter of the 1948 book and is reproduced here (reluctantly) as Fig.1 for the convenience of later reference. (This figure may also be found in several textbooks on human genetics).
