Abstract

Since ultrasound reflection mode tomographic imaging method was proposed by S.J.Norton et al. 1,2, many scientists have been interested in this method because of its simple measuring equipment required and capability of achieving high resolution in both range and azimuth directions simultaneously. It is difficult to obtain exact reconstruction of a two-dimensional reflection mode tomography. Generally, the filtered backprojection method used in X-ray tomography is employed. However, the distortion of the reconstructed images will happen because of wavefront curvature when the far field condition is not satisfied. T.K.Truong et.al.3 proposed an extended method named “An extended version of the tomographic transform convolution for the wavefront curvature” under paraxial approximation condition. Unfortunately, it is difficult to calculate the second modified term in Eq.(19) of the paper.3
