Abstract
Little is know about antigen presenting cells in the human peritoneal cavity. Mottolese et al. 1 studied the antigen presenting capacity of human peritoneal macrophages (the adherent cell fraction) and concluded that these cells could stimulate allogeneic and syngeneic T cells at a level similar to peripheral blood mononuclear cells. However it can not be excluded that contaminating dendritic cells (DC) biased these results.
