Abstract
Over the past few years, there has been a substantial increase in the number of incidents involving armed police officers in the United Kingdom (U.K.). This trend has been a cause of concern to police and to public alike. Whenever such incidents occur, they have invariably attracted a great deal of media attention, which sometimes portrays the police action in an unfavorable light.
