Abstract

The large scale production of electricity from fuels by traditional thermomechanical means is subject to the limitations of the Carnot cycle; furthermore, such electricity is economically difficult to store. However, the continuous improvement of electrochemical generators and some evolution in electrical networks planning may offer new opportunities to introduce these technologies into electrical energy systems.
