Globalization and Development of New Materials

  • Yoshikazu Ito

Chemistry is a branch of science dealing with molecules. It allows us to organize the molecules to build new materials with desired performance and functions which can fulfill human needs. The chemical industry has helped to improve the standard of human life by mass-poduction of commodity materials. It is also contributing to the growth of today’s high-tech industry by supplying smaller, lighter and more functional materials for the betterment of human life. In the future, the chemical industry should continue to contribute to human and the Earth by creating new materials. I firmly believe that without new materials, there would be few innovations and developments in any industries.
