Abstract
Dr. Garza-Flores and his colleagues have presented evidence of systematic differences in the pharmacokinetic profiles of depo medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA) and norethisterone enanthate (NET-EN) between Mexican and Thai women. Comparing these data with similar studies conducted in other regions (cited in the same paper), it appears that the pharmacokinetic parameter displaying the greatest variability between populations is the Cmax, the maximum concentration observed; it is the mean Cmax observed with DMPA among Thai women that is the most dramatic outlier.
