Abstract
The tear film has an outstanding role in protecting the cornea, especially during the activity period of the day, from potentially noxious factors generally present in the environment. A reduction of the rate of lacrimal secretion was observed, following the application of local anesthetics to the conjunctiva1(1,2) or the induction of general anesthesia(3–6).
