Abstract
In previous chapters, we have looked at reliability/availability models and performance models. The purpose of reliability/availability models is to analyze the reliability and the availability of a system based on its structure and the failure and repair behavior of its components. Performance models enable us to represent the probabilistic nature of the work the system is subject to, and predict its ability to carry out work assuming that the system (or its components) does not fail.
