RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) Disc Pre-emphasis and De-emphasis

  • Chapter

Abstract

Both mono and stereo 33 1/3-rpm discs are recorded and played back with electrical pre- and de-emphasis established by the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) during the 1950s. These equalization curves were subsequently adopted internationally, to the exclusion of all other equalization schemes.
