Dynamics of Excitons and Electron-Hole Plasma Confined in Semiconductor Nanocrystals
Manyfold modifications of linear and nonlinear optical properties of semiconductor nanocrystals (microcrystals with radii in the region of nanometers), caused by quantum confinement of carriers, has recently been a subject of intense investigations partially discussed in the present volume. If, however, the nanocrystal radius significantly exceeds an exciton Bohr radius, the density of states and the linear optical absorption are practically bulk-like. Meanwhile, the nonlinear absorption still possesses certain peculiarities.
