Abstract
Dear Rolf, it is now nearly 35 years since we have been friends and office neighbors at CERN. I am glad and honored to have this opportunity to address you on the occasion of your 75th birthday celebration. It gives me a special pleasure to do so in the scientific setting of this meeting with tributes to the seminal influence you have had on the scientific community. Of course this room looks in no way like the offices and seminar rooms at CERN in which most of your scientific discussions took place in the past, but still it is very much a scientific and lively meeting. This is a greater tribute to you than any address and a most appropriate one.
