Intravascular Ultrasound and Scanning Acoustic Microscopy Evaluation of Aortic Wall

  • Chapter
Acoustical Imaging

Part of the book series: Acoustical Imaging ((ACIM,volume 21))

Abstract

Intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) imaging is now widely used to evaluate aortic and coronary diseases in clinical cardiology to provide tissue character information of the arterial wall not detectable by angiography1–6. While angioscopic evaluation of arterial tissue has also been developing, it only provides information of surface morphology7–8.
