Enantio- and Diastereoselective Reduction of Disubstituted Aromatics

  • Chapter
Chiral Reactions in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Abstract

Biological activity is closely tied to chirality and control of the enantioselectivity in the synthesis of fine chemicals is of increasing interest [1-3]. Although a large number of enantioselective reductions of prochiral compounds are reported in the literature, no catalytic enantioselective reductions of disubstituted aromatics, which could lead to valuable alicyclic compounds have been reported yet. To reach this goal, two approaches were tried in the present work, namely enantioselective and diastereoselective heterogeneous catalysis.
