Enantioselective Hydrogenation of α-Ketoesters: A Molecular View on the Enantio-Differentiation

  • Chapter
Chiral Reactions in Heterogeneous Catalysis

Abstract

Three mechanistic models, which have been proposed for the interpretation of enantioselective hydrogenation of α-ketoesters on platinum metal catalysts modified by cinchona alkaloids, are critically reviewed and compared. The characteristics and the implicit contradictions of the models are discussed in the light of relevant experimental observations.
