Abstract

Community action is a key ingredient in Ontario’s comprehensive tobacco strategy. Four resource centres are funded to support community action. One of these is the Program Training and Consultation Centre (PTCC), which provides training and consultation support for program planning, implementation and evaluation. Each of the resource centres plays a unique but complementary role in providing support services to community groups. To ensure that these centres provide services that closely match those needed most at the community level, a needs assessment was conducted. This paper reports on this needs assessment as it relates to training and consultation, and describes how the PTCC is responding to these identified needs.
