Half-Life of Perfluorooctylbromide in Inner Organs Determined by Fast 19F-NMR Imaging

Part of the book series: Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology ((AEMB,volume 361))

Abstract

In the group of artificial oxygen carriers perfluorochemicals (PFCs) can serve as contrast agents for 19F-NMR imaging. However, some of the PFCs were accused for a long-term retention by organs of the reticuloendothelial system (RES), especially in liver and spleen (Lutz 1985). Thus the question arose how far PFCs of the second generation would share this disadvantage.
