Abstract

Recently a host of new experiments involving low energy neutrino reactions in nuclei are in progress or being planned. These are being undertaken at LAMPF and by the KARMEN collaboration at the Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory. Part of this resurgence of interest lies in the fact LAMPF faces a possible shutdown so that it may not be possible to undertake many of these experiments in for the foreseeable future if they are not done now. However the greatest impetus to these experiments stems from a desire to clear up the discrepancies which exist in both theory and experiment in this area. In particular, without a full understanding of these processes it is not possible to obtain and interpret solar neutrino data with any degree of reliability.
