Consciousness and Reality
In the preceding chapter we described a hypothesis regarding the organisation of consciousness or the modes of consciousness, as we have called them. We also proposed a method, that of experimental phenomenology, to verify this hypothesis. Future studies which apply this method will prove whether or not we were right, but in the meantime, the hypothesis we have formulated allows us to interpret experimental data from some existing psychological and neuropsychological studies on memory.
