Abstract
Chapter 4 provided an overview of the types of decisions commonly observed in juvenile justice systems. These range from decisions about arrest, formal indictment, and detention to choices regarding appropriate dispositions following an adjudication of guilt. They may also involve decisions about waivers to adult court or the mental health system and diversion from the judicial system prior to adjudication. We also reviewed in that chapter the various types of judgments or inferences underlying those decisions. Table 6.1 provides an outline of these judgment areas and some of the decisions with which they are linked.
