Abstract
Amid the wave of electronic commerce (E-Commerce), which is seemingly permeating every facet of our life, both Hong Kong and Singapore are eager to develop their own infrastructures to support and foster the ongoing development of E-Commerce. According to the figures published by the International Data Corporation [IDC 1996], the estimates of overall E-Commerce revenues in Hong Kong and Singapore were US$58 million and US$21 million respectively in 1998. These figures are expected to reach US$685 million and US$855 million in 2001. Whether this robust growth can be attained depends on a number of enabling factors, of which the most important one is a well-established electronic commerce infrastructure.
