Abstract
There are many software tools that are used to develop EBI applications. Some of them have been used way before EBI technologies have emerged, while others have been developed especially to provide greater efficiency and functionality of EBI applications. This chapter summarizes some of them. Database technologies that also represent an important building stone for EBI are outside the scope of this book and will not be covered here.
