Abstract

A psychological report is a clinical document that has as its primary purpose to describe and interpret information gathered or discovered in the process of a psychological evaluation. The literary challenge facing the report writer is to organize, integrate, and synthesize the information gathered in the examination process and to subsequently generate a carefully planned and meaningful report which is relevant to the referral questions. Such a skill is not learned quickly. Many years of training in psychopathology, interviewing, psychometric test interpretation, case conceptualization, and report writing are necessary to learn to interpret and communicate results of a psychological evaluation in a clear, concise, and precise manner.
