What are the underlying protocols used by the Internet? The Internet Protocol addressing scheme for representing endpoints is discussed, along with the TCP/IP protocol suite. The purpose of Distributed Name servers, and the notions of URL/URI are presented. The notion of Web servers, web proxy, clients, and how they communicate with each other using HyperText Transmission Protocol is discussed.
