Abstract

In this chapter, we will recall some of the most fundamental properties of finite fields or, equivalently, Galois fields, in order to point out the main differences between them and Galois rings (see Chapter 6). For more details the reader is referred to some basic texts on Finite Fields, as [51] and [57].
