Abstract

In his Politics, Aristotle turns money into a problem by contrasting two modes of economic activity. The administration of a household, the first type of economic activity, aims less at the possession of inanimate goods than at the ‘good life’ of the household’s members. This aim constitutes a limit when compared to the limitlessness of the second type of economic activity, possessed by finance. Aristotle: “All getters of wealth increase their hoard of coin without limit”2.

There is no expressed limit for wealth with mankind. (Solon)
