Part of the book series: Research Issues in Real Estate ((RIRE,volume 7))

Abstract

The African continent is second in size only to Asia. It houses 54 independent countries, with an estimated population of 700 million people (MBendi, 1999) and literally hundreds of languages and dialects. Generalising about real estate education on the continent is hazardous. Because of differing economic and land tenure systems, even the concepts of real estate and of the property industry1 as a business are unfamiliar in some countries.
