Abstract
Interleukin 11 (IL-11) is a pleiotropic cytokine initially identified as a factor stimulating proliferation of IL-6-dependet murine plasmacytoma cell line T11651. Today IL-11 is known to interact with variety of haematopoietic and nonhematopoietic cell types (for review see ref. 2). Many of the biological effects of IL-11 are shared with IL-6 since both cytokines share a common receptor subunit ß (gp 130).
