Abstract

Abuses in treatment and research carried out with persons with mental disorders are more frequent than those infringed on people with physical illnesses. This kind of human rights violations has been denounced since Antiquity and is at the core of many social and political quarrels. Over recent decades, international legislation has grown, created to prevent certain perverse practices.
