Abstract

relative time period: Follows the Early Chibcha tradition and precedes the Manteño tradition. Falls within the Regional Developmental period in the traditional Ecuadorian periodization scheme. It follows the Late Formative period (Chorrera culture) and precedes the so-called Integration period. However, the ending date of 1500 b.p. is variable throughout the central and northern coast of Ecuador, as several ethnic groups continued up until the conquest with little or no “integration” into larger polities.
