Abstract
We review the main statements of the mesoscopic irreversible thermodynamics. Afterwards we show how the approach is appropriate to construct the balance equations of interacting Brownian particles in solution. The application of the scheme to the case when the particles are in a temperature gradient, permit to obtain the connection between the collective diffusion and the thermal diffusion coefficient in terms of the pair interaction potential between the particles, and their corresponding pair correlation function.
