Computer Simulation of Oxygen Microelectrode Measurements in Tissues

Abstract

Several methods are available to investigate tissue oxygenation, a very important parameter in determining tissue response to radiation treatment. In spite of having different underlying principles, almost all these methods do some sort of averaging either in space or in time and the measured values might not correspond to the situation that has actually been measured. Therefore it is important to know the possible limitations of various methods and their implications on the measurements.
