Abstract

This entry describes a number of strategies and interventions that may prevent chronic diseases and conditions in the aged, or minimize their effects. Examples of interventions are reviewed, along with findings of studies testing their impact. This entry concludes with a synthesis together with research and practice recommendations aimed at maximizing the potential for a healthy old age.
