Abstract
Diverse populations are demographically distinct groups of people who, by virtue of their ethnic-racial background, their lifestyle, or their particular physical, emotional, or social attributes, require and deserve specially designed primary prevention programs. Prevention programs for diverse populations may address any of the behaviors and states that typify primary prevention programs. These behaviors and states encompass such problems as substance abuse, physical and mental health, school performance, delinquency, pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and the host of health, behavioral, and social problems that stimulate the development of primary prevention programs.
