Abstract

A number of organizational studies suggest that the mobility patterns and attitudes toward mobility of executive directors are closely related to their receptivity to organizational change (Carlson 1961, 1962; Seeman, 1958) In view of these findings one of the studies in the series reported in this volume was designed to investigate the relationship between the mobility orientation of agency executive directors and the implementation of program change in community welfare agencies. The working hypothesis stated that mobility orientation would be positively associated with the amount of program change experienced by the agencies.
