Taurine Transporter in Cultured Neonatal Cardiomyocytes:

A Response to Cardiac Hypertrophy

  • Chapter
Taurine 5

Abstract

Hemodynamic overload results in cardiac hypertrophy, and may ultimately lead to congestive heart failure. Two factors are thought to contribute to the development of cardiac hypertrophy, mechanical stress and neurohormonal stress from angiotensin II (Ang II), endothelin-1, and the cytokines.
