Abstract
This book has had a relatively long gestation. This is attributable to a number of factors, not the least of which is the effort of the editors to manage manuscripts from multiple, geographically dispersed authors. English is not the first language of many authors, adding to the editorial effort to make sure that the writers’ intent was faithfully conveyed. More important, as the book developed, so did the field of monitoring behavioural risk factors for chronic disease.
