Transients In Cooling-Water Systems

  • Chapter
Book cover Applied Hydraulic Transients

Abstract

Cooling-water systems are utilized in thermal and nuclear power plants to condense steam after it leaves the turbine. The condensed water is then used in the steam generators. For this purpose, steam is passed around a large number of small-diameter tubes through which cooling water, or coolant, is pumped. These tubes are contained in a large chamber, known as a condenser.
