Abstract
Public support for controversial legislation is critical to its success. The liberal versus conservative tug-of-war over passage of the ACA was hindered by the public’s lack of understanding over its purpose and implementation. One public opinion poll after another and continuing till this day highlights the lack of understanding on what potential benefits lie ahead for individuals, families, communities, and for the nation as a whole in terms of not only public health but the economic benefits that come with improved public health.
