Abstract

It is hoped that this book dispels the idea that huge parabolic dish antennas are needed in the garden in order to follow the fascinating hobby of radio astronomy. In fact it can be done with quite modest equipment, that won’t come with a hefty price tag and that doesn’t require a degree in either mathematics or electronics to understand how to build and operate the radio receivers, monitors and scanners. Radio astronomy can be as detailed and in-depth as participants wish to make it. All the projects covered within this book are capable of being built by anyone who can follow an instruction manual and knows the hot end of a soldering iron from the handle.
